R. v. Morris Kyamanywa, Crim. Rev. 25-M-67; 6/6/67; Platt, J.

Accused was convicted of unlawful wounding (P.C. s. 228(1) for severely cutting his wife with a panga. Accused was ordered, inter alia, to pay Shs. 500/- compensation to his wife.

            Held: In principle, compensation between spouses ought to be limited. If the marriage is still subsisting ordering a large payment from one spouse to the other can only result in difficulty and aggravate the differences between the spouses. Compensation was reduced to Shs. 200/-
