Right to Seek Compensation for Adultery in Tanzania.

Section 72 of the Law of Marriage Act [Cap 29 R:E 2019] provides a right to seek compensation for adultery

(1) A husband or wife has the right to initiate legal action to claim compensation from any person who has engaged in adultery with their spouse. However, such legal action shall not be permitted:

   (a) When the aggrieved party has consented to or secretly encouraged the act of adultery;

   (b) When compensation for the alleged adultery has already been sought in a divorce petition.

(2) If the defendant can prove to the court that they were unaware, and with reasonable effort could not have known, that the person with whom they committed adultery was married, any lawsuit brought under this section will be dismissed."
