The Law of the Child Act defines child abuse as any act or omission that causes or is likely to cause injury, harm, or danger to the life, health, or physical, mental, moral, or social development of a child. This includes physical abuse, sexual abuse, emotional abuse, neglect, and exploitation. The law also defines specific acts that constitute child abuse, such as abandonment, exposing a child to physical or moral danger, subjecting a child to harmful traditional practices, child labor, and trafficking of children. Subjecting a child to any form of torture as indicated above, may attracts serious penalty of imprisonment. Children are protected under several laws because is among a vulnerable group to torture and abuse.
