What is the difference between Retrenchment and Redundancy?

1). Redundancy refers the position of an employee who fills a job that no longer needs to be done. It is a situation where the employee has to leave his job because there is no more work available for him.

2). Retrenchment refers the steps taken by the employer to remove some of his employees from their jobs with a view of reducing costs or cutting down expenditures. Unlike in redundancy where the employees have jobs, but, have nothing to do in retrenchments; the employees have something to do in relation to their jobs
