Section 10 of Law of Marriage Act recognizes two types of marriage and these are:
1). Monogamous; and
2).Polygamous or marriages potentially polygamous.
Monogamous or marriages intended to be monogamous are recognized by the following law by the Law of Marriage Act No. 5/1971 e.g. Christian marriage, Indian etc; while; Polygamous or potentially Polygamous marriage are also recognized by the Law of Marriage Act No.5/1971 being Islamic Law; and Customary Law.
