How does Revision differ from an appeal?

1). In Revision the Superior Court exercises its supervisor power by calling for the records of Subordinate Court and examines them for the purpose of satisfying it as correctness, legality or propriety of decision. It may exercise its supervisory power on its own motion or upon application of the party, that is, the aggrieved party. In Revision the superior Court may reverse the decision of a subordinate court.

2). In appeal, the superior court examines whether the decision is wrong or not. The merit of the decision of the Subordinate Court is challenged. The Court may rely on Subordinate Court’s evidence or call additional evidence. An appeal is initiated by aggrieved party thus, where in Revision, the court is confined to the inspection of subordinate court’s records of proceedings when making its decision in appeal, the Court may call addition evidence apart from using only Subordinate Court’s evidence.
