Corroboration as a matter of practice is needed in the following circumstance:
1). Where repudiated or retracted confession supports conviction as a matter of prudence need be corroborated. See Jackson s/o Mwakatoka & 2 others vs. Republic [1990] TLR 17.
2). Where evidence of identification by single witness is made under unfavourable conditions, corroboration is required. See Hassan Juma Kanenyera & Others vs. Republic [1992] TLR 100.
3). Evidence of accused or of accomplice need be as a matter of prudence corroborated. See Bushiri Amiri vs. Republic [1992] 65.
