Conversion not amounting to theft is provided in section 284 of the Penal Code. It is restricted to draught or riding animals, vehicles and vessels of various propellants. In conversion not amounting to theft, the thing stolen is initially in lawful possession of the accused and such accused does not have intention to deprive the owner of the thing permanently.
