Cost in an event vs. cost in cause



Costs in any event refer an order for costs made in interlocutory proceedings by which the winner of the interlocutory hearing in question shall be paid the costs of that stage in the proceeding whatever is the outcome of the trial, whereas; costs in cause refers an order for costs made in interlocutory proceedings by which the cost of interlocutory hearing in question are payable in accordance with the order for the costs to be made at the trial. Costs ordered to be paid in the cause will usually have the effect that they are paid by the overall looser of the litigation. 

Note: Simply costs in any event refers to the order for payment of Costs to the winner of interlocutory proceedings whatever the outcome of the main trial. Costs in the Cause refers to the order for payment of costs of interlocutory proceedings in accordance with order for costs to be made of the main trial.
